Surely your router can be put in another room? If not then I do think that sticking some tape over the bulbs is the only way forward.. or something dark just for night times, but at least something that doesn't block the ventilation of the unit!

Just place a piece of black electrical tape of the indicator.

I just came across this article that I believe you'll find useful.

Sadly that router does not allow you to disable the activity lights. Have you tried putting a piece of electrical tape over the lights? You can also try placing the front of the router that contains the lights up against a wall or placing it up against the back of a desk. Cutting the router off at night won't hurt anything. Just remember that anything physically connected to the router and anything running off wireless will lose connectivity until it is turned back on.

Also, I see that the Netgear router is a N150 wireless router WNR 1000. Hope that helps.

The WiFi brand is Netgear and the modem brand name is Arris.

What router brand and model do you have? Some newer routers have the option to disable the activity lights.

I have a modem set up in a bedroom at home and now a WiFi has been hooked up to the modem. Problem is, the WiFi blinks so much at night and it's so light in there now I had to move to another bedroom to sleep. Tried to cover it somehow so the light would be partially blocked like I did with the modem previously but nothing really worked well enough. The WiFi lights are a dozen times more annoying than the modem lights ever were. I had nowhere else to put the equipment. Nobody could stand to sleep in that room now. My question is, can the WiFi be turned off / unplugged at night without causing harm to it or the modem? Would the WiFi have to be set up again if this were possible? Bet you've never had a question like this before! Sometimes that bedroom would be needed for overnight guests. I may have to have the WiFi permanently disconnected.
