The NC Strawberry Festival in Chadbourn is the oldest agriculture festival in North Carolina. This year will mark the 83rd festival. It is a celebration of the days of past when the strawberry was �King.� Today, in addition to recognizing the past, we celebrate the proud tradition and heritage of the town and its citizens. On Friday May 1, the Evening of Encounters will be held, which is an outdoor social with a catered meal and entertainment. Saturday May 2 is the featured day, with the dignitaries luncheon along with the quality auction where growers submit a flat of berries with the winning flat usually being sold at $2000.00 plus. After the luncheon the parade starts at 1:30 pm with over 150 units participating. Crafters, food vendors, entertainment and classic cars will be other features for the day.
